MY SHOP HAS EVOLVED A LOT SINCE THE CONSTRUCTION OF MY FIRST PROTOTYPE PANEL. HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF THE SHOP MACHINERY INVOLVED IN MAKING A B-17 PANEL FOR YOU.

THIS 17" FLOOR MOUNTED DELTA BANDSAW WAS MY FIRST LARGE TOOL INVESTMENT. IT ALLOWS ME TO DO THE CURVED CUTS REQUIRED ON THE PHENOLIC AND PLYWOOD PANELS.

SECOND CAME THIS LARGE DELTA FLOOR MOUNTED DRILL PRESS. WITH IT I CUT ALL THE INSTRUMENT HOLES AND ANY DRILLED HOLES IN THE PANELS. TO THE LEFT IS THE SHOP DUST EVACUATION SYSTEM I RECENTLY INSTALLED. IT HANDLES THE SAWDUST CREATED QUITE WELL.

THE PRIDE AND JOY OF MY WOOD WORKING SHOP IS THIS 1956 DELTA RADIAL ARM SAW. IT IS FITED WITH A DADO BLADE AND I CUT ALL THE  DADOS IN THE PANELS WITH IT. STILL RUNNING STRONG AT ALMOST 50 YEARS OLD!

I BUILT THIS CUSTOM ROUTER TABLE MYSELF. WITH IT I CUT THE SLOTS IN THE BOTTOMS OF THE FRONT AND REAR PANELS, TO HOLD THE BOTTOM.

ANOTHER LUCKY FIND WAS THIS EARLY 50'S VINTAGE SPRUNGER TABLE SAW. WHEN I GOT IT, IT WAS IN PRETTY BAD SHAPE, BUT I TOOK IT ALL APART AND GLASS BEADED ALL THE PARTS, THEN REPAINTED THEM IN A SPRAY BOOTH. AFTER INSTALLATION OF NEW BEARINGS AND V-BELTS, I PUT A NEW CARBIDE BLADE ON IT. SO NOW I CAN CUT MY OWN FULL SIZED PLYWOOD SHEETS TO SIZE RIGHT IN MY OWN SHOP.

THE ADDITION OF A DELTA OSCILATING SANDER AND BELT SANDER HAVE REALLY HELPED IN THE FINISHING PROCESS

THANKS FOR DROPPING BY AND I HOPE THESE PICTURES SHOW YOU JUST WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BUILDING  ONE OF THESE B-17 PANELS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.
